final: spec commercial for a skateboard company

Kickflip_reflect.jpg

My project is a spec commercial for a skateboard company. I am using the Panasonic Hi Def camera to shoot a skater doing a trick in front of a green screen. This will allow me to take the skater out of this world and fill in any background i like using Apple Motion. The skater will be in a highly reflective environment, and using Flash, I will animate an entire city to rise around him as he completes the trick. I believe the city will be my home town of Los Angeles, and the basic idea of the commercial is, whatever city you’re in, skate it. The closest video ive seen that uses this type of design would be Kanye West’s new video for The Good Life. The city will be very colorful and design is the most important part of the commercial.

digital graphic novella :: Using illustrations done by hand and inked/detailed in photoshop (and animated when needed in flash), i will make a digital graphic novella, where instead of traditional panels the viewer will see all the action move before their eyes. Its a combination of a animated short and a comic book, using After Effects to move illustrations through a 3D space with 3D elements like lights and environment effects like smoke to add more depth and tone to the piece.
The story itself is a simple narrative of a guy being welcomed into a local gang. This simple story was chosen to show off a certain noir style heavily influenced by a relatively new concept of digital storytelling and art. This project will be largely based on the visuals, and due to its complexity and time restriction, the narrative will be sacrificed before the aesthetics to remain in the realm of graphic design.
