process and product, fundamental-styled
“The truth is that nobody is in charge. It is the hardest thing for human beings to get used to, but the world is full of intricate, cleverly designed and interconnected systems that do not have control centres.”
Genome, by Matt Ridley
p 151
Sounds like an argument from the creationists, but why not? This design is the result of a long process without command. It’s a plural process. messy, without a clear center. Every participant is equally engaged, it’s scrappy and anarchic.
This interpretation of life spoils the dogmatic, patriarchal, hierarchical, over-simplified and atavistic worldview espoused by fundamentalist sects. But why not see God in this bottom-up long-term process? That, my friends, is the future.
