I am pitching a new project that simulates biological processes with sound, and I'm trying different scales looking for a good fit. The chromatic scale gives you discrete notes in what would otherwise be a smooth spectrum.

This is a sonification of Diffusion-Limited Aggregation (DLA) a simulation of branching patterns like lightning, coral reefs, or dendritic branching. The simulation plays a 12 note chromatic scale mapping the location of each particle relative to the origin point. Each particle's path is spatially constrained and probabilistically determined.

It could also be a rule for jazz improvisation. But does it blow?
