Vermeer’s famous painting is not a portrait of a person. It's called a “tronie” a painting that depicts stereotype characters in ways that shows the skill of the painter.

I experimented with feeding Vermeer's painting into a machine learning algorithm and using text prompts to steer the image in different directions, resulting in several variations on Vermeer's tronie.
