While we're on the subject of visual music... I thought that I would try to control some parameters of this sketch with a MIDI file. And curious to see what kind of correspondence might come from using a MIDI recording of Eric Satie's Gnossiènne_No.1. I smoothed out the pitch and velocity changes and passed them to the color, transparency, and size of the circles. I would usually bury the control signal in finished work or at least build a conceptual framework to drive the visual "narrative." This one has nothing like that, so it's an opportunity to think about what's missing.
